Mbabane Swallows will look to claim the scalp of MC Alger when the teams meet in a CAF Confederation Cup Group B clash on Friday afternoon. The match is slated for the Somhlolo National Stadium in Lobamba, kick-off at 15h00 CAT.
The Swazi hosts come into the game off the high of defeating South African neighbours Platinum Stars 4-2 in the previous Matchday.
Sabelo Ndizinisa made a name for himself in the victory over Stars, scoring all four goals for ‘Umkhonto kaShaka’.
The result left Swallows in third place on the log with three points from two matches, yet they are just one point adrift from leaders and upcoming opponents MC Alger.
The North Africans also come into the game on the back of a victory in their previous Confed Cup clash, having defeated Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien 2-1 at home thanks to goals from Hichem Nekkache and Abderahmane Hachoud.
This match will be the first of a double-header between Swallows and MCA, with the return game in Algiers set for June 20.
The Algerian side will see this as an opportunity to pick up valuable points on the road, having already drawn away to Stars in the first round of group games, but they will do well not to underestimate a Swallows side which will be full of confidence on home soil.
Tanzanian referee Israel Mujuni will take charge of the game in Lobamba. The other Group B match will see CS Sfaxien host Platinum Stars on Sunday night.
