A brace from Moussa Maazou in the second half gave Niger the upper hand as they beat Somalia 2-0 in their 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifier on Friday at the Addis Ababa Stadium.
After not being involved in international football for some time, Somalia was hoping that they would hit the ground running at home when they took on Niger, but it wasn’t to be.
After a very tough first half where both teams couldn’t find the back of the net, Maazou finally broke the deadlock in the 58th minute.
Three minutes later Niger received a penalty and it was Maazou who made no mistake and found the back of the net which saw his side earning a 2-0 victory.
The second half also became very hectic as four bookings were made which included two from each side, but there was no change to the scoreline.
