The 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification first round first leg-clash was played at the Stade Nacional in N'Djamena.
There were no goals to be seen in the first-half, but that changed after the interval.
Just two minutes into the second-half, Chad midfielder Léger Djimrangar broke deadlock much to the delight of the home crowd.
The goal proved to be the difference between Chad and Sierra Leone on the day, as Les Sao held on to their slender lead, and emerged 1-0 winners.
The return-leg clash will be played at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in the Nigerian city of Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
The winner between Chad and Sierra Leone on aggregate will take on Egypt in the World Cup qualification second-round.
