Following their shock defeat to 193rd ranked São Tomé and Príncipe in the first-leg, Ethiopia were desperate to bounce back at home and that is exactly what they did, dispatching the African minnows 3-0 at the Addis Ababa Stadium on Sunday.

Luis Leal spearheaded the Islanders to a memorable win on Thursday, but they had no answers for a determined 'Walias' outfit int he Ethiopian capital, who next face Congo in the second round of 2018 World Cup Russia qualifiers next month.

Ethiopia pulled level on aggregate as early as the first minute through Dewit Fekadu, who brushed aside his marker before firing past Lima Do Rosário to the relief of Yohannes Sahle and his technical team.

Gatoch Panom doubled the hosts' lead three minutes after the break from 12 yards before Ramkel Lok made sure of the result in the 75th minute.

Fekadu turned provider, drawing Do Rosário off his line before squaring to his teammate who was left with an easy finish to net his first goal for his country.

Ethiopia continued to push forward, but failed to add to their tally as they gained revenge on the 'The Falcons and True Parrots Team'.
