Niger demolished a struggling Somalia 4-0 in their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier second leg tie held at Stade Général Seyni Kountché in Niamey on Tuesday.
Moussa Maazou and Mahamane Cisse both scored twice to ensure the hosts progress through to the next round over the hapless Somalis.
In the opening half, the hosts put three past the Somalians to give them the edge going to the tunnel, with Maazou scoring twice whilst Cisse netted the third goal.
The in-form Maazou was on target in the first leg as he also netted a brace and once again he raised his hand to lead his team to another convincing victory on home soil.
Niger ensured the first half was fairly easy as they were in control of the match, having netted early to ensure they remained in charge of the tie.
However, in the second stanza, Niger extended their lead through Cisse who sealed his brace in the 70th minute.
Although the hosts scored only one goal in the second half, the visitors could not trouble Niger’s defence to find a consolation goal.
Niger beat the Somalis 6-0 on aggregate to set up a date against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the next round.
