Young Africans edged MO Béjaïa 1-0 at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Saturday to keep their hopes of reaching the 2016 Caf Confederations Cup semifinals alive.

Victory moves Yanga up to four points in Group A after five rounds of fixtures with the Tanzanian giants set to face TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi later this month.

Medeama, who host the Ravens in Sekondi-Takoradi on Sunday, know victory over the five-time Caf Champions League winners will enhance their chances of qualifying for the final four; they are currently tied on points with MO Béjaïa.

Thabani Kamusoko scored the only goal of the game as early as the third minute, poking home from close range after the Crabs failed to clear their lines. The Zimbabwean had the last touch with Amissi Tambwe also involved as they forced the ball over the line.

The Crabs were unconvincing throughout, but Yanga were still unable to double their lead with Obrey Chirwa missing a golden chance to bury the Algerians late in the second stanza.

In the end, though, it mattered little as the hosts held on for all three points - victory also revenge for the defeat they suffered in Béjaïa two months ago.
