Gabon earned a second draw of in their World Cup qualifying campaign after playing to a goalless stalemate against Mali in a Group C match at the Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako on Saturday night.

The draw is Gabon’s second of the qualifying campaign in as many matches after holding Morocco to a draw in their first match on 8 October 2016.

The result combined with Group C’s other match on Saturday, a 0-0 draw between Morocco and Ivory Coast, sees Gabon up to second in the standings with two points from two games.

Ivory Coast top the standings with four points from two games, while Morocco are in third also on two points and Mali in last place with one point.

Gabon struggled to find their rhythm in the opening half and save very little of the ball, but luckily for the away team Mali were poor in front of goal.

The second half saw Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang pose more of a threat in attack for Gabon, but their decision making in the final third was bad and they too struggled to find the back of the net which saw the match end goalless.

While Gabon will be disappointed with the draw, Mali will take solace in the fact that they picked-up their first point of the qualifying campaign after what was a rather poor performance in front of their home fans in Bamako.
