Al Ahly recorded a 2-0 victory over Coton Sport in the 2017 CAF Champions League Group D match at the Roumdé Adjia Stadium in Garoua on Tuesday.
The victory took the Red Devils to the top of Group D standings, while the Cottoners remain at the bottom of the table.
The Red Devils dominated the opening stages of the match applying some pressure on the Cottoners defence.
Oluwafeni Ajayi broke the deadlock for the visitors with a decent finish in the 12th minute - making it 1-0 to Ahly.
Two minutes later, Momen Zakaria doubled the Red Devils' lead when he beat Sport goalkeeper Dauoda Ibrahima to make it 2-0 to Ahly.
The Cameroon side then contained the Egyptian giants, who looked dangerous everytime they pushed forward looking to extend their lead.
However, Souleymane Coulibaly should have made it 3-0 to Ahly in the 35th minute, but he missed the sitter.
Nevertheless, Ahly were deservedly leading 2-0 during the first-half time following an entertaining first-half.
The Red Devils continued their dominance in the second-half as they searched for the third goal against the Cottoners.
Former Nigeria under-23 international Ajayi had a chance to score in the 68th minute, but Sport keeper Ibrahima denied him.
With 13 minutes left on the clock, Zakaria also had a chance to complete his brace, but once again Ibrahima made a good save and the rebound was cleared away.
Ultimately, Ahly ran out 2-0 winners over a hapless Sport side, who struggled against the Red Devils on the day.
