Guinea’s Horoya AC have jumped to the top of Group D in the CAF Confederation Cup after claiming a 1-0 win away to CF Mounana on Saturday afternoon.
Horoya’s triumph at the Stade de l’Amitie in Libreville takes them to five points, while Mounana remain on zero after suffering a third successive loss.
One of defending champions TP Mazembe or SuperSport United (both on four points) could claim first place outright if they win their clash in Lubumbashi on Sunday, while a draw would see a three-way tie.
There was nothing to separate Mounana and Horoya for more than three quarters of their match, but the Guinean visitors scored the decisive goal in the 72nd minute through Seydou Karamba Camara to claim all three points on offer.
It’s Horoya’s first win in the group after draws away to SuperSport (2-2) and at home to TP Mazembe (1-1) in the first two Matchdays.
The teams will meet again in just over two week’s time, with their return clash in Conakry set for June 20.
