Al-Ahly Tripoli earned their first point in their CAF Confederations Cup, Group B after drawing 1-1 with FUS Rabat at the June 11 Stadium on Friday night.
Despite earning their first draw Al-Ahly Tripoli are still bottom of Group B while in stark contrast FUS Rabat extended their lead at the top of standings to four points over Etoile Sahel.
FUS Rabat have 11 points from five games while Etoile Sahel have seven points from four games. Kawkab Marrakech are third in Group B with six points.
Etoile Sahel will host Kawkab Marrakech in their Group B fixture in Friday’s late Confederation Cup game.
The first half between Al-Ahly Tripoli and FUS Rabat was rather boring with both sides squandering possession in the final third which resulted in very few chances in front of goal.
Consequently, the half opening half ended goalless.
The second half saw the away side come out in a determined mood and with them seeing more possession FUS Rabat took the lead in the 64th minute courtesy of a goal from Yusupha Njie, 1-0.
Al-Ahly Tripoli, though, fought back and managed to level matters ten minutes later thanks to a goal from Rabie Al Lafi, 1-1.
The action went from end to end after that, but neither side could find a winning goal as the match ended all-square.
Al-Ahly Tripoli are next in action on August 23 away to Kawkab Marrakech while FUS Rabat will host Etoile Sahel on the same date.
