Former Arsenal Cameroonian midfielder Alexandre Song is set for a move back to the Premier League following an unconvincing two-year spell at Spanish giants FC Barcelona.
Song joined the ‘Blaugrana’ from the Gunners in August 2012 on a five-year contract for £16 million, but has never managed to secure his place in a star-packed squad, with only 29 league starts over the last two seasons.
While several European outfits have expressed their interest in the 26-year-old in the last few months, including Atlético Madrid and Inter Milan, the Indomitable Lion has never made a secret of his preference for the Premier League.
“If I leave Barcelona it will be to return to the Premier League. I will return to England one day, that’s for sure,” Song admitted in March.
And according to the Daily Mirror, Liverpool and Manchester United will be especially keen on the Cameroonian, who could be released by Barcelona for £8 million.
But other Premiership sides have also been keeping a close eye on Song, including Everton, West Ham United and his former club, Arsenal.
