Former Baza Holdings FC player Victor Emenayo is expected to play a key role for SC Villa when they host defending champions KCCA FC in a 2014/2015 Uganda Premier League (UPL) tie in Mityana on Friday.
Emenayo who joined SC Villa during the second round of last season from the lower Division Baza Holdings ios expected to have his first start under new coach Sam Ssimbwa.
But this season, he has managed just 15 minutes of playing time when he came on as a substitute in SC Villa’s 1-0 defeat to Police FC. But the stocky player from Imo State in Eastern Nigeria has been working hard in training and finally landed his chance.
“In football, every day you have to keep learning and waiting for your opportunity. “I will give my best to convince the coach that I deserve to be starting games,” said the player who netted seven goals for Baza Holdings last season. The Nigerian will play alongside Karim Ndugwa and Stephen Bengo who have been in scoring form for the team.
“We respect KCCA FC as the defending champions, but we are hungry to maintain our lead on the log,” Ssimbwa told AfricanFootball.com. SC Villa leads the table with 13 points, with a better goal difference than SC Vipers and Express Fc who also have the same number of points.
National team players Brian Umony and Brian Majwega are expected to lead the defending champions who are struggling in 10th place after a poor start of the League. “We shall keep improving and facing SC Villa could just be a true test for us,” said KCCA FC coach George Nsimbe.
The other games on card will see second placed SC Vipers play away to Soana FC, while Entebbe Fc host Bidco and in-form striker Robert Ssentongo leads URA Fc away to Lweza FC.
