Coach Sam Ssimbwa’s SC Villa will go top of the log if they manage to register victory over Sadolin Paints FC as the second round of the Uganda Premier League (UPL) kicks off today.
New recruits Chrizestom Ntambi and veteran Hakim Magumba are expected to start the game at the Nakivubo Stadium. “Our target is to win this League title and this means we need to take the second round more seriously,” Ssimbwa told AfricanFootball.com.
Experienced Hassan Wasswa Mawanda is also expected to play a key role for SC Villa who are just two points behind table leaders SC Vipers whose game against Bright Stars has been postponed.
Defending Champions who stopped Cameroon’s Cosmos De Bafia 1-0 last weekend in a CAF Champions League tie will also be back in action away to Entebbe FC. Herman Wasswa and William Wadiri are expected to start the game in search for goals.
In the other games on card, army side Simba SC will host bottom placed Rwenshama FC, while Coach Alex Isabirye’s URA FC face Bidco FC. Former Uganda Cranes midfielder Joseph Mutyaba will now be in-charge of Bidco FC after Kefa Kisala was sacked.
The other games that have been postponed include; Lweza FC against Police FC, SC Victoria University against Kira Young and Soana FC against Express. The games were postponed because the eight teams involved all have more than three players training with the U-23 team for the All Africa Games qualifier against Mozambique.
