Victor Anichebe justified his first start of the season by grabbing the opening goal for Sunderland to record their first win of the campaign Saturday.
The Nigeria striker drew Sunderland level after 33 minutes, after Bournemouth took the lead only for Anichebe’s strike partner Jermaine Defoe to fire home the match winner from the penalty spot after the Nigeria star was fouled inside the box on his way to goal.
Anichebe showed power when he shielded the ball inside the box before he crashed it home for the equaliser.
The away win will most certainly be a big burden off the shoulders of manager David Moyes, who took the chance to sign free agent Anichebe, who he first worked with at Everton.
In 10 matches before this win, Sunderland had only managed two draws.
