Nigeria striker Junior Ajayi was on target as Al Ahly stopped local rivals Zamalek 2-0 in the famous Cairo Derby.
The derby win has thus consolidated Ahly’s leadership at the top of the table with 45 points, 11 points clear of third-placed Zamalek.
“I am happy with my scoring form as I have now scored five goals in 11 appearances in my first season in Egypt,” Junior Ajayi said.
“I have now scored in the Cairo Derby, which is the biggest in Egyptian league.
“I am used to pressure having played for a traditional club in Nigeria (Shooting Stars) before I moved to Tunisia where as a striker you are expected to score in every match.”
He said he is enjoying his time in Egypt.
“I am enjoying my football. I believe after playing in the leagues in two North African countries, I will move to a better league,” he said.
