2017 CAF Africa Cup of Nations-bound Ugandan goalkeeper Denis Onyango has given back to the club which made him.

The Mamelodi Sundowns net minder has had a great 2016 and decided to visit his former Sports Club Villa at Villa Park in Uganda and donated football equipment including jerseys, gloves and balls.

The Cranes keeper is one of the players to watch in Gabon as the AFCON tournament takes the centre stage.

“I have always wanted to come back to the club that made me, but my schedule has been tight, it’s always good to remember where you came from. Villa is and will always be my home,” he said.

Reports suggest that the ex-St George FC and Mpumalanga Black Aces shot-stopper was not part of the Uganda Cranes travelling contingent to Tunisia as he was given time to rest after a long season.

Meanwhile, it is mentioned that he will leave for Abuja, Nigeria to attend the CAF Awards on 5 January where he is nominated for the 2016 CAF African Player of the Year based in Africa Award.

He will then depart for Dubai to team up with the rest of the Uganda Cranes squad as they head to Gabon.
