Egypt coach Hector Cuper has expressed his belief that his team is heading in the right direction after claiming a 1-0 win over Tunisia.
The Pharaohs defeated the Carthage Eagles 1-0 on Sunday in their last 2017 Africa Cup of Nations warm-up game thanks to a late strike from Marwan Mohsen.
“It was a tough challenge against a very strong team such as Tunisia,” said Cuper after the match.
“The two teams were very good tactically during the first 25 minutes, we showed better quality after that, but we were affected by our physical stamina.”
He added, “We did not show our best during the game, but the results are going in the right direction.
“I care about improving the performance every game and at the end we are trying to make those fans happy and we need everyone’s support.”
Egypt will open their Group D campaign in the 2017 AFCON with a match against Mali in Port-Gentil on January 17.
