Sunderland AFC defender Lamine Kone missed Ivory Coast's international friendly against Sweden on Sunday.
The Elephants edged out Sweden 2-1 in Abu Dhabi as they continued their preparations for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in Gabon.
According to United Kingdom publication, Chronicle Live, Kone continues to struggle with a problem picked up while playing for Sunderland in England.
Despite the injury, Ivory Coast head coach Michel Dussayer included him in the final 23-man squad for the 2017 AFCON finals.
The Elephants remain hopeful that the 27-year-old centre back will be ready for their opening game against Togo on January 16.
Dussayer's men will then take on the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Morocco respectively on January 20 and January 24 respectively.
Ivory Coast are the defending AFCON champions and they are looking to clinch their second consecutive title.
