Oussama Assaidi insists that he was not a failure during his time with Premier League heavyweights Liverpool.

The 28-year-old was on Liverpool’s books from 2012 to 2015, though he saw little playing time in the famous red jersey and had two loan spells at Stoke City.

He also played for Omniworld, De Graafschap and Herenveen before joining Liverpool, and has since played for Al Ahli Dubai before heading back to the Netherlands this January thanks to a move to FC Twente.

Asked about his time with the English giants, Assaidi declared to AD: "No, I do not think that I failed at Liverpool.

"Every footballer in his prime would go to Liverpool if he had the chance. Everyone knows how beautiful that club is, you get goose bumps when you're out there on the field.

"I played with great players like Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez - and really learned a lot, I'm glad I made that step."
