Although the South African Football Association is currently looking for a new Bafana Bafana coach, the association has refuted reports that Diego Maradona, Frank Rijkaard and Lucas Radebe are seen as possible candidates.
A local website has it that SAFA disassociated Maradona, Rijkaard and Bafana's former skipper, Radebe from speculation surrounding the vacant Bafana job.
Following the departure of coach Shakes Mashaba, a number of names have been thrown into the rumour mill recently as SAFA wants to fill the vacant position.
AN GHANA WIN 5TH AFCON CROWN IN GABON?
According to SAFA President, Danny Jordaan, who was in Zurich, Switzerland to attend the FIFA Best Awards on Monday night, he denied the links.
“It bears noting that none of these meetings were to discuss the vacant Bafana Bafana coaching job!” SAFA insists according to KickOff.com.
Meanwhile, Jordaan is said to be jetting off to Gabon to fulfil his CAF duties at the 2017 African Nations Cup as a member of the AFCON Organising Committee.
It is suggested that he will return to South Africa to address the coaching matter with CEO Dennis Mumble and the SAFA Technical Committee next week.
Despite Mashaba taking SAFA to CCMA, the association appears to be moving forward.
