Bechem United president Kingsley Owusu Achiaw believes his side should have played their home CAF Confederation Cup match in Kumasi rather than Accra.
The Ghanaian side is bade in Bechem, approximately 300 kilometres from the country’s capital Accra, but opted to use the Accra Sports Stadium for their home matches in African club competition.
GHANASoccernet reports that only a handful of supporters turned up to watch Bechem United’s 2-1 win over MC Alger in the CAF Confederation Cup’s preliminary round this past weekend.
Achiaw now feels that they should have used the Baba Yara Stadium in nearby Kumasi instead.
“Kumasi is far better than Accra. Kumasi is closer to Bechem our base, and the supporters would have increased in numbers,'' Achiaw told Kumasi-based Bohye FM.
Bechem will look to seal progression into the first round of the Confederation Cup when they play away to MC Alger in the return game this coming weekend.
