SuperSport United managed to bag a point in the Absa Premiership as they held a wasteful Free State Stars team 0-0 at James Motlatsi Stadium on Wednesday night.
Stuart Baxter's Amatsantsantsa A Pitori now move to the fourth spot with 29 points from 16 league outings.
It was the homes side which looked threatening as they twice struck the crossbar when goalkeeper Riyaad Pieterse was beaten by a well taken shot from Mohammed Anas from a distance in the sixth minute.
In the seventh minute, Anas received a defence splitting pass in the box, he laid the ball for Moeketsi Sekola to easily slot into the empty net, but the latter hit the woodwork and the ball bounced back to safety for United to clear the danger.
Two minutes later, defender Morgan Gould nearly scored for the visitors when his header also hit the opposite cross bar following a beautiful in-swinger from Thabo Mnyamane on the right flank.
Skipper Danny Venter nearly caught Pieterse in the 27th minute when the midfielder tried a curler to the right post, but his effort also missed the target.
Despite the hosts’ dominance, Reneilwe Letsholonyane managed to find space to manoeuvre on the half-hour mark and his left footed shot went over keeper Henri Mafoumbi's posts.
In the last five minutes of the opening half, Sinethemba Jantjie called for a fine from Pieterse as the keeper punched away a well drilled set piece on the left flank.
Despite their efforts in the opening stanza, Ea Ll Koto tried to find an early goal as Sekola broke free towards the box, but his grass cutter went failed to produce a save from Pieterse as it went wide in the 61st minute.
With both coaches, Stuart Baxter and Serame Letsoaka, making changes, none of the sides created clear cut chances in the last five minutes.
However, in the injury time, Sekola was denied by Pieterse from a distance, the rebound fell perfectly for substitute Dorian Nono but the Gabonese blasted his effort over the target.
In the wake of the draw, Serame Letsoka's side still sit number 14 with with 15 points from 17 rounds of league matches.
