Free State Stars stun Golden Arrows in Durban

Danny Venter's goal helped Free State Stars overcome Golden Arrows 1-0 in an Absa Premiership game which was played at the Princess Magogo Stadium in Durban on Saturday afternoon.

As a result Ea Lla Koto move up to position 12 on the league standings, while Abafana Bes'thende stay seventh on the log.

Both goalkeepers were kept busy in the opening stages in the opening stages of the game and they did very well to deny the attackers.

However, Nkosingiphile Gumede, the Arrows keeper, was beaten in the 25th when Danny Venter scored with a good free-kick to make it 1-0 to Stars.

Ea Lla Koto managed to contain Abafana Bes'thende until the match referee blew the half-time whistle and the visitors were leading 1-0 during the interval.

The visitors were happy to sit back and launch quick counter attacks against Abafana Bes'thende, who were keen to level matters in the second-half.

Stars striker Moeketsi Sekola hit the crossbar with Arrows shot-stopper Gumede already beaten four minutes after the hour mark.

Arrows had a great chance to equalize in stoppage time, but Stars keeper Christopher Mafoumbi pulled off to a good save to ensure that his side walked away 1-0 winners.
