The Senegal U20 side will be targeting a win as they get their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, Group B underway against Sudan on Monday.
The West Africans will be out to dispatch the junior Falcons of Jediane as they hope to reach the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup in South Korea in May.
On their road to Zambia, they lost once to Ghana as they managed to beat Tunisia 2-0 as well as a win over the Ghanaians in the first leg through a 3-1 win.
Upon their arrival in the Southern African country for the tournament, technical director Mayacine Mar believes the Joseph-Koto coached side can do well and reach the junior World Cup.
Although he is confident, he said they must be cautious of their group opponents, having lost 1-0 to Nigeria in the 2015 final.
“We have to qualify to the World Cup and after we reach the top two, then we have to go for the title,” he said.
Looking at the Sudanese, they have had a good qualifying campaign en route to Zambia and will hope to keep their good run intact.
They managed to secure a big win over Nigeria (4-3) and a 1-1 draw against Mauritius, but lost 1-0 to Angola.
Facing the Senegalese will not be an easy task considering the experience of the West Africans in continental tournaments, but they will also be motivated to reach the World Cup.
The match is slated for Monday, 27 February at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola at 15:00.
