Egypt Premier League (EPL) giants Al Ahly have revealed that their Nigerian striker Junior Ajayi sustained an injury during their clash with Bidvest Wits.
Al Ahly edged out South African Absa Premiership side Wits 1-0 in the 2017 CAF Champions League first-round first-leg clash in Egypt on Saturday.
Ajayi, who was part of the Nigeria squad at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, was substituted three minutes after the hour-mark with Al Ahly already leading.
The Red Devils have since released the following statement following their narrow victory over the Clever Boys.
"Ajayi suffers from a muscle strain after sustaining a knock during the 1-0 win over Bidvest Wits in the first leg of the CAF Champions League round of 32 on Saturday," read a statement on Ahly's official website.
The 21-year-old forward could miss the second encounter which is scheduled to take place in Johannesburg, South Africa this weekend.
