Ghana will reportedly hand former player Stephen Appiah the team manager role with the Black Stars when they appoint a new coach.
The Ghana FA is set to name a new coach for the Black Stars before the end of the month after parting ways with Avram Grant in the wake of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
Appiah has long been linked with an administrative role in the senior national team and will be a popular choice amongst Ghana fans.
The 36-year-old played a central role in Ghana’s first World Cup qualification in 2006 and racked up over 60 caps for the Black Stars.
His club career included spells with Hearts of Oak, Udinese, Parma, Brescia, Juventus, Fenerbahce, Bologna and Cesena.
Appiah will bring his technical knowledge and experience to the team manager role, with Ghanasportsonline reporting that he will be tasked with helping take the Black Stars back to the top of the African game.
