Glasgow Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has indicated that veteran central defender Kolo Toure could be offered a new contract.

The former Ivory Coast international recently helped Celtic win the 2016/17 Scottish Premiership title - making seven appearances for the Glasgow giants

Rodgers, who coached the 36-year-old centre back at English Premier League (EPL) giants Liverpool FC, hailed the player as a 'great role model'.

"Kolo and I will sit down and see what he’s thinking,” Rodgers told The Scottish Sun regarding a new deal for Toure.

“He’s still on the winning teams every day in training and looks after his body, as you saw with his chest on Sunday. He’s in good nick," he said last week.

“It maybe took him a bit longer to warm up than he used to but you can’t underestimate his influence.

“He’s highly respected because of his achievements but also because he’s a great role model.”

Toure, who turned out for Arsenal and Manchester City in the EPL, also helped Celtic win the 2016/17 Scottish League Cup.
