Liverpool’s Sadio Mane will have surgery on his knee today (Tuesday), ruling the Senegalese out of the rest of the 2016/17 season.
The Daily Mail reports that the Teranga Lions attacker will go under the knife to repair the damaged meniscus he sustained in Liverpool’s recent win over derby rivals Everton.
Mane is expected to be sidelined for eight weeks after the surgery, ruling him out of the rest of the Premier League season.
The Reds had initially hoped the Senegalese could simply rest the injury and return before the end of the campaign, but further scans have revealed that surgery is the only viable option.
Mane should be fully fit for the start of preseason training in July.
