Algeria’s JS Kabylie can still turn their CAF Confederation Cup tie against TP Mazembe around, according to former Ravens manager Hubert Velud.
Mazembe defeated JSK 2-0 in Lubumbashi on Sunday in the first leg of the teams’ Confed Cup playoff tie.
The return leg is set for the Stade du 1er Novembre 1954 in Tizi Ouzou this weekend and while Velud believes the Ravens are in a very strong position, he wouldn’t rule out a comeback for the hosts.
“It should be noted that TP Mazembe lost five major players during the offseason. It is not as strong as it was before,” Velud said in an interview with Le Buteur.
“The JSK can take advantage of this. I think that even if this 2-0 remains very favorable for TP Mazembe, it does not prevent that in a stage like Tizi Ouzou everything is possible.
“The atmosphere in this stadium is strong and if the players of the JSK really believe in it, they can prevail.”
Velud added, “I think that if the JSK wants to reverse the steam and believe in a qualification, it will have to score quickly in the return match. The more time will pass, the more it will be in favor of the TP.”
The aggregate winner will advance into the 16-team group stage of the competition.
