Legendary Botswana defender Khumo Motlhabane feels that Township Rollers star Simisani Mathumo is not ready for the South African Absa Premiership.
Towering defender Mathumo recently underwent trials with Absa Premiership side Ajax Cape Town as he looked to secure a professional contract in SA.
However, former Botswana national team defender Motlhabane has insisted that Mathumo needs to improve before moving to the lucrative league.
“For me I would give him two years with the team just to learn and adjust to new training methods," Motlhabane told Weekend Post.
"Because local football training methods are very poor, so when you get that side it’s more like starting from scratch.
"Again he is too slow for professional football hence I’m saying two years will be enough to adjust and fit in the league," he added.
"The speed of the game and the thinking should be up to standard for him to make it.
"However he is still young and can learn and it will depend on his eagerness and attitude that side."
It remains to be seen whether Ajax will make a move for the former Botswana youth international Mathumo during the upcoming Transfer Window period.
