As the battle of the Tshwane giants takes the centre stage in South Africa on Thursday evening, SuperSport United skipper Dean Furman is confident of victory over Mamelodi Sundowns.

Amatsantsa A Pitori are chasing their maiden Absa Premiership league title under coach Stuart Baxter and will meet the Brazilians hoping for win.

United remain at number four on the log table with 37 points, two above Sundowns, and will be gunning to reach the top three.

Having ended their 19-game unbeaten run in their previous league game against Premier Soccer League newcomers Baroka FC‚ the midfielder says they must continue winning.

“There’s no point hiding it. If you lose at this stage you can fall behind the chasing pack," Furman said to the Sowetan website.

"We’re in the business end and victories can really take you into a position to challenge‚ and losses are felt a lot more than at the beginning of the season‚ whether that makes sense or not.

"So for us‚ you lose against Baroka and there’s a huge disappointment‚ and it’s something that we want to come back from strongly.

“We have to go and put that right now against Sundowns.

"So definitely‚ losses at this stage of the season can dent your title credentials‚ and I think it’s massive for us to bounce back from last week’s defeat with a win against Sundowns.”

The Absa Premiership match will be staged on Thursday night at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, kicking off at 19:30.
