TP Mazembe are confident of securing qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup’s group stage later today, according to striker Meschak Elia.
TPM will face Algerian giants JS Kabylie in Tizi-Ouzou for the second leg of their playoff round tie, with the winners progressing into the last 16.
The DR Congo side hold a 2-0 lead from the first leg and while Elia expects a tough match against the Algerians, he is confident that his side will advance.
“It will be a very difficult encounter for both teams. We're here to make a good game and come home with the qualification. Everyone is aware of the task ahead of us this Sunday,” Elia told Le Buteur.
“[2-0] is a considerable advantage, but not enough. We still have to play thoroughly in this return match to hope to validate definitively our qualification. We should not take this return match lightly.”
He added, “Yes, we are [confident]. We come with two goals away. That's a good thing. It is up to us to give it a qualification for the group stage.”
The match in Tizi-Ouzo is set to kick-off at 19h00 CAT.
