Kaizer Chiefs head coach Steve Komphela is pleased with Venezuelan striker Gustavo Paez's contribution at the South African club.

The 27-year-old forward helped Chiefs overcome Chippa United 1-0 in an Absa Premiership match at the Mbombela Stadium on Saturday evening.

With experienced striker Bernard Parker out suspended, Komphela looked to Paez, who has scored three goals in his last three competitive matches.

"Paez gave us everything we were looking for," Komphela told Chiefs' official website.

"I thought that he would get tired, but he played well until the end of the match.”

"We will sort out the return of Parker when we get there next week.”

Paez is Chiefs' top goalscorer in the Nedbank Cup with three goals from two matches.
