Schalke 04 midfielder Nabil Bentaleb has stressed the importance of his central midfield partnership with Leon Goretzka at the German Bundesliga club.
Bentaleb and Goretzka have established a good partnership and they are charged with linking Schalke’s build-up play from back to front.
This has seen the two central midfielders become a dynamic duo at the heart of Schalke head coach Markus Weinzierl's system.
Algeria international Bentaleb explains that the Royal Blues rely on them to create chances in the final third of the pitch.
“[Schalke] count on me and Leon Goretzka as midfielders to create something in the final third,” Bentaleb said in a recent interview with DW Sports.
Bentaleb, 22, has made 27 German Bundesliga appearances for the Royal Blues this season - netting five goals in the process.
The former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has also featured in nine UEFA Europa League matches for Schalke - scoring two goals in the process.
