Ivory Coast winger Wilfried Zaha is in line to have his wages doubled by Crystal Palace, who are desperate to keep him at the club.
The Sun reports that the Eagles are looking to ward off strong interest from Tottenham Hotspur by doubling Zaha’s pay - from his current 60,000 pounds per week up to 120,000.
Zaha’s teammates Christian Benteke and Yohan Cabaye are on similar wage packages and the London club is prepared to make the Elephants attacker one of their highest earners.
It is hoped this will prevent Zaha leaving for Spurs, who are prepared to offer a fee in the region of 40-million pounds.
“Wilfried's contract has a considerable time to run,” Palace manager Sam Allardyce is quoted by The Sun.
“The summer will bring whatever it brings, whether it's us negotiating a new contract and he wants to stay, or whether some outrageous bid comes along.
“I'm not in control of whether he stays.
“But he needs to stay here and play every week, and be the key man to Crystal Palace getting better and better."
