English Championship side Aston Villa have indicated that Ivory Coast international Jonathan Kodjia could be out until next season.
The striker sustained a broken ankle during Villa's 1-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers in a league match at the Ewood Park last weekend.
Villa have since released the following statements about the 27-year-old forward:
"Jonathan Kodjia has suffered a broken ankle. He picked up the injury in the 1-0 defeat to Blackburn this past weekend, a statement read.
"Kodjia will now visit a specialist in Europe this week for further tests," another statement read.
"The injury will likely require surgery which could then rule the striker out of pre-season and the start of next season," a statement concluded.
Kodjia has had a good season in front of goal for Villa in the current 2016/17 campaign - scoring 19 goals in 36 league appearances.
He's likely to miss Ivory Coast's 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Guinea on the 9th of June 2017.
