AfricanFootball looks ahead to the weekend’s CAF Confederation Cup group stage action, which will see eight matches played across the continent.
Matchday 1 gets underway with a lone game on Friday night which sees South Africa’s SuperSport United host Guinean contenders Horoya in Tshwane for the Group D opener.
Groups A, B and C all have one game on Saturday: Morocco’s FUS Rabat host Uganda’s KCCA to wrap up the day’s action late in the evening, Swaziland’s plucky Mbabane Swallows will face three-time champions CS Sfaxien of Tunisia, while the afternoon match is an intriguing clash between Zambia’s Zesco United and ambitious Egyptian side Smouha.
All four groups are represented on a busy Sunday of four matches. We start in Lubumbashi with defending champions TP Mazembe, who will fancy their chances of overcoming Gabonese side CF Mounana in Group D.
Angola’s Recreativo do Libolo will host Sudan’s Al Hilal Al-Ubayyid in Group C, while Group B’s second clash sees South Africa’s Platinum Stars host North Africans MC Alger in Rustenburg.
The weekend’s action wraps up with a potential thriller between Tunisian giants Club African and Nigeria’s Rivers United in Rades.
