After squandering a wonderful opportunity to return to the top of the Absa Premiership log table on Wednesday night, Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Teko Modise says it is tough to win league matches with their schedule.
'The General' was speaking after their 2-2 draw against Baroka FC on Wednesday night at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
Despite taking a 2-1 lead, Pitso Mosimane's men allowed Bakgaga Ba Mphahlele to find an equaliser as they scored via a penalty in the injury time.
However, the experienced midfielder said teams are now looking to escape relegation and some are gunning for the trophy thus making games more tough.
"It is tough and there is no claiming that you will win any of the remaining fixtures. Teams are looking to escape relegation and some are gunning for the trophy," Modise said to his official website.
“It will not be easy but we have to stay focused and take it a game at a time. We start with the (Maritzburg) United match and aim for three points.
“Then we can focus on the last hurdle and hope that luck is on our side. Let us see what happens."
Having failed to bag the full three points against Baroka, the African champions are now trailing Bidvest Wits by two points with two league matches remaining.
However, this weekend, they meet Ethiopian side St George in the opening Group C tie of the CAF Champions League at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
