Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho feels that his key central defender Eric Bailly did not deserve a red card against Celta Vigo on Thursday night.

The Ivory Coast international was sent off during United's 1-1 draw with the Spanish side in the UEFA Europe League semi-final second-leg clash at the Old Trafford.

But the English giants advanced to the final after winning the tie 2-1 on aggregate. Bailly struck the Vigo striker John Guidetti in the 87th minute and the former was given a red card

"I didn’t see the incident but he [Bailly] was phenomenal. The game was emotional until the end for everyone," Mourinho said on The Guardian.

“Some kept their control in a better way than others. And I think it was the wrong card.

The giant defender will now miss this year's UEFA Europe League final which will see United take on Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam at the Friends Arena in Stockholm, Sweden on the 24th of May.

"The wrong card is not new in this kind of situation and probably Eric was a bit naïve," he continued.

"I don’t know [the details of] the incident but we have lost a very important player for the final and we don’t have many.”
