AfricanFootball looks ahead to Matchday 3 of the CAF Confederation Cup group stage, which will see eight matches played across the continent this weekend.

The action gets underway on Friday afternoon with Group B leaders MC Alger looking to defend their position when they face plucky hosts Mbabane Swallows in Lobamba.

A late evening game sees a North African derby between FUS Rabat and Club Africain in Morocco: should either team manage a victory, it will put them in charge of Group A, which currently has all four teams level on three points.

The second Group A clash between KCCA and Rivers United in Kampala kick starts Saturday’s action and is quickly followed by a must-win clash for Gabonese side CF Mounana, who must beat Guinea visitors Horoya at home to keep alive their hopes in Group D.

The late game on Saturday sees Egypt’s Smouha host Sudan’s Al-Hilal Al-Ubayyid in Group C, another pool where all four teams are locked on three points apiece. The group’s other match takes place on Sunday afternoon in Ndola and sees Zesco United host Angola’s Recreativo do Libolo.

South African sides SuperSport United and Platinum Stars face tough trips on Sunday, with the former taking on reigning champions TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi in Group D, while the latter face three-time champs CS Sfaxien in Group B.
