Asamoah Gyan has revealed his hope that Kwadwo Asamoah’s return to the Ghana team will be confirmed in their next squad selection.
Juventus midfielder Asamoah has confirmed that he will soon end a three-year absence from the Black Stars, having finally put his injury woes behind him.
And Gyan says he is excited at the prospect of having the veteran back in the team under coach James Kwesi Appiah.
It is hoped that Asamoah will be named in Ghana’s squad for their upcoming North American tour, which will see them play Mexico and the USA in friendlies in late June and early July.
If that’s not the case, then Asamoah’s return may have to wait for the back-to-back matches against Congo in late August and early September as part of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
"I met Kwadwo at an event yesterday and we had a conversation about his return to the Black Stars,” Gyan told Hot FM on Wednesday, as quoted by GHANASoccernet.
"I am highly hopeful that by the next time a squad is called for the Black Stars he will be part of it. I am highly convinced.
"He will be a useful addition to the Black Stars squad."
