AfricanFootball looks ahead to Matchday 4 of the 2017 CAF Champions League, which will see eight matches are played in midweek.
The action gets underway on Tuesday afternoon in Kinshasa as DRC giants AS Vita look for their first points in Group C when they host Ethiopia’s Saint George, while the late match sees Sudan’s Al Merrikh desperate for a home win when they host Group A rivals Ferroviario Beira of Mozambique in Omdurman.
Moving on to Wednesday, Cameroon’s Coton Sport are on the hunt for their first points in Group D when they host Zambia’s Zanaco in Garoua in the only afternoon match.
The remaining five fixtures all take place late at night, with the other Group D clash between Wydad Casablanca and Al Ahly in Morocco only set to kick-off early Thursday morning CAT time.
Arguably the biggest clash sees defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa face a tough trip to Esperance Tunis, with the former in need of another powerful away performance to come back into quarterfinal contention.
Group B is also delicately poised (just two points cover the four teams) ahead of its two matches on Wednesday night, as Al Ahli Tripoli host CAPS United and USM Alger welcome Zamalek, while a second successive match in Omdurman will see Etoile Sahel looking to put on foot in the next round with victory over Group A rivals Al Hilal.
