Ahead of the Nedbank Cup final against SuperSport United on Saturday, Orlando Pirates skipper Oupa Manyisa says they are still focused despite not playing for a month.

The Buccaneers midfielder believes lifting the Ke Yona Cup competition will grant them an opportunity to return to continental football in 2018 - the CAF Confederation Cup.

Speaking to reporters during a press conference at FNB Stadium, Manyisa emphasised the need to wrap up their 2016/17 Premier Soccer League campaign with a gold medal.

The Soweto giants failed to qualify for the 2017/18 MTN8 Cup as they finished their Absa Premiership season outside of the top eight for the first time in their PSL history.

He said the fact that they had a poor season will push them to bring back the smiles to their faithful supporters.

"With everything that has happened in our season, the Nedbank Cup will give us an opportunity to play in CAF competition once more," said Manyisa.

"It means a lot to the fans when we win but this one will mean even more for everyone because of the season we had.

“Sure we haven't played for a month but the focus is still there. We have been working and we want to do well."

Stuart Baxter's United are the current Ke Yona champions and Pirates' coach Kjell Jonevret will want to lift a trophy in his first season in South Africa.

The encounter will be staged at the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday night, kick-off is at 20:15 (CAT).
