Ghana to host 2017 WAFU Cup

Nigeria have been pitted against Sierra Leone in the draw for the 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations tournament which took place in Accra, Ghana.

The West African competition has been scheduled for September 9 - 24, and teams are expected to feature wholly home –based professionals.

According to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the Super Eagles have been drawn in Group A alongside host nation Ghana.

Mali and Guinea are also involved in a unique format that will see teams play single games before proceeding to the quarter finals.

All the teams in Group A will play in Takoradi, while Group B which includes Senegal, Burkina Faso and Benin Republic will be based in Cape Coast.

The last WAFU tournament was hosted by Ghana in 2013. Black Stars won the tournament after defeating Senegal 3-1 in the final.

Ghana vs The Gambia

Nigeria vs Sierra Leone

Mali vs Mauritania

Guinea vs Guinea Bissau

GROUP B

Senegal vs Liberia

Burkina Faso vs Niger Republic

Cote d’Ivoire vs Togo

Benin Republic vs Cape Verde
