Ghana’s players cannot complain about being jeered and booed after their 1-1 draw with Congo in Kumasi this past weekend, according to captain Asamoah Gyan.
Ghana were held at home in a crucial 2018 World Cup qualifier and now trail Group E leaders Uganda by a full five points.
The Black Stars will face the Red Devils in a return clash in Brazzaville this afternoon, and ahead of the match Gyan has acknowledged that fans in Kumasi had every right to jeer the team.
“It's one of those things. After the game I told some of the players, when you win massively, you are the best player, when you don't do well the fans will criticise you,” Gyan is quoted by GHANASoccernet.
“As professional footballers we have to be ready for all of those things. We do accept it. We didn't live up to expectations as the supporters wanted it. We do agree with them. The booing is one of those things sometimes.
“It depends when you are doing the right thing and people don't understand and they boo you, but as for this one I do understand because things we were not going right for us.”
The Congo v Ghana match will kick-off at 16h30 CAT and you can follow live coverage on this website.
