With Mamelodi Sundowns having failed to defend their CAF Champions League title, Platinum Stars midfielder Robert Ng'ambi has warned his teammates of the Brazilians.

The Tshwane side will resume their Absa Premiership schedule to visit Dikwena on Sunday and the Malawian is scared of Sundowns.

He said they have a duty to win their games and forget about what is happening at the club beyond the field of play.

"They will come into the game with the mindset of making a statement against us after losing out in the CAF," Ng'ambi said to the Sowetan.

"It will just be up to us players to focus and make sure we are at our best against what is for me the best team on the continent.

"As players we have not been concentrating on what is happening in the background with the club. Our duty is to win games and remain competitive in the league."

With coach Roger De Sa's men still chasing their first 2017/18 win in the league and Sundowns out to erase their CAF disappointments, the match is set to be a thriller in Rustenburg.

Coach Pitso Mosimane's troops will face Stars at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Sunday, kick-off is at 15:00 (CAT).
