Uganda are considering taking their team of local-based players to their final 2018 FIFA World Cup, Group E qualifier against Congo next month.

Media reports in Uganda indicate that the country's football association wants to build their momentum for the upcoming 2018 CAF African Nations Championship next January.

Should coach Moses Basena’s men pick up maximum points in Brazzaville, they will not only finish above three-time World Cup finalists Ghana, but will also have set a perfect tone to CHAN.

“It is what we are considering,” said a top source from FUFA to the Daily Monitor.

“We are out of the World Cup qualification and the best we can do now is take a Chan team so that it gets cohesion ahead of the finals.”

Meanwhile, CAF is set to announce the hosts of the CHAN tournament this weekend after Kenya was stripped of hosting rights.
