The United States national football are also known as the Stars and Stripes and USMNT.
They have appeared in the last six FIFA World Cups, including their appearance as hosts in 1994, and eight tournaments in total. 
Their best finish was during the 1930 World Cup in Uruguay where they reached the semi-finals.
They have played in 14 CONCACAF Championships, winning the tournament five times, in 1991, 2002, 2005, 2007 and 2013.
The team is coached by German national Jurgen Klinsmann since July 2011 and captained by Seattle Sounders midfielder Clint Dempsey.

They finished on top of the final qualifying group ahead of Costa Rica, Honduras, Mexico, Panama and Jamaica with seven wins, one draw and two losses to secure their place at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Their other key players include Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard, Roma midfielder Michael Bradley and Sunderland forward Jozy Altidore.
