Nickname:
Amakhosi
Founded:
1970

Kaizer Chiefs are the most decorated club in the history of the MTN Top 8 Cup and they will be looking to clinch it for the 16th time during the 2017/18 campaign.

Amakhosi have won the lucrative tournament twice since leading mobile telephone network operator, MTN started sponsoring the competition in 2008.

The last time the Soweto giants lifted the MTN Top 8 Cup was in 2014 after defeating their fierce rivals Orlando Pirates 1-0 in the final thanks to Tefu Mashamaite's goal in Durban.

Last season, Chiefs were knocked out of the MTN Top 8 Cup quarter-finals by Cape Town City courtesy of Matthew Sim's goal in the Mother City.

Chiefs will be under the guidance of Steve Komphela, who guided Amakhosi to the 2015 MTN Top 8 Cup final where they lost 1-0 to Ajax Cape Town thanks to Nathan Paulse’s goal in Port Elizabeth.
