Mamelodi Sundowns

Nickname:
The Brazilians
Founded:
1970

The South Africa league champions sealed a record extending seventh league title since the Premier Soccer League's inception in 1996 (10th of overall), last month - racking up a record points tally of 71 points in 30 league games.

Despite their domestic pedigree, the Tshwane giants will be considered underdogs in their group having never won a continental title.

The Brazilians achieved their best showing in the Caf Champions League in 2001, reaching the final with notable wins over TP Mazembe and Petro Atlético before suffering a 4-1 aggregate defeat to Al Ahly in the showpiece.

Despite their rather underwhelming record on the African continent, Sundowns will fancy their chances of upsetting the odds.

In Pitso Mosimane Sundowns have a coach with a great desire to achieve success on the continent while Khama Billiat and Keagan Dolly provide the attacking qualities to threaten any defence.

Sundowns play their home games at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville.
